Last year the International Committee for the Recovery of the Vaquita estimated that fewer than 100 vaquitas were left in the Upper Gulf of California. Fortunately, new measures decreed by the Mexican government are giving the vaquita its last hope to survive.
With the rapid decline of the rare vaquitas, we are hopeful that the Mexican government will commit to preserving this unique animal.
